Nerdfighter Benedict? Or just failed Vulcan?
As far as I can tell, there are eight possibilities here. (I’ve spent a fair bit of time thinking about this.)
1. Benedict Cumberbatch is a hardcore nerdfighter and when Martin Freeman threw up a gang sign, Cumberbatch was like, “I have one of those.”
2. Cumberbatch, who obviously has a relationship with Star Trek, just naturally changed the Vulcan sign (pulling in the thumbs, turning the palms inward, crossing the arms) in precisely the same way that I happened to change the Vulcan sign when I first made the nerdfighter sign in the halcyon days of 2007.
3. One of the interns on set who has gained the trust of Benedict Cumberbatch was like, “If you do your hands like this, the Internet will get really excited.” And so he did.
4. BBC, in their infinite wisdom, staged the entire photo and Cumberbatch was taught the nerdfighter sign (I MEAN LOOK AT THE PERFECTION OF HIS NERDFIGHTER SIGN! He seems so comfortable and confident in it, almost as if it is muscle memory, almost as if he has flashed it to his laptop screen on hundreds of occasions in the past, but I digress) and this photograph was staged to get people psyched for Sherlock, although what tiny segment of nerdfighteria is not already psyched for Sherlock? Also, if this is the case, who is Martin Freeman trying to advertise to? Residents of the West Side?
5. Benedict Cumberbatch has a relative or a friend who is a nerdfighter and so he is passingly familiar with nerdfighteria and liked what he has seen and wanted to make us all very happy.
6. The nerdfighter sign also happens to be the hand sign of some obscure English gang with which I am unfamiliar called like The East London Wanderers or The Slightly Intimidating Liverpudlians or whatever.
7. Nerdfighteria actually figures in the plot of the new season of Sherlock. Perhaps a nerdfighter has been (wrongly no doubt!) accused of a murder.
8. Benedict Cumberbatch was playing some kind of British version of Rock Paper Scissors against two invisible opponents, and he went double scissors (as any smart person would).
I really felt that Graham’s reaction to Benedict hugging one of his fans deserved it’s own audio post.
I love torrid Tuesdays! :)

I just needed to reblog this again.
Because jfc, you don’t understand how important this scene is to me.
Or maybe you do!
Because it has Jack openly showing his affection and admiration for two people of different gender in the exact same way, making no difference at all, and neither do Rose nor the Doctor. Zilch. No hesitating, no flinching, no comic relief.
I wish it could be like this more often.
That scene up there is doing everything right, end of story. And while Jack’s sexuality is often made out to be something to smile at, it’s also shown as very natural and Nine was just cool with that, no reason not to be.
Acceptance: You’re doing it right.

human impala, anyone

God
HEADCANON FUCKING ACCEPTED
Yes to human!Impala. And yes to this dude playing the part. Oh, Dean.
Oh lord. We missed it the first time this went around. And we would just like to say aksdhofiasknd YESYESYES
ALL the yes! Please someone write it. Dean/Impala
YES.
Dean walked outside, loosening his tie as he and Sam went out to their car, on their way to the cemetery to burn the bones— it was a simple enough case. “Sam. Sam, where the hell.. where the hell is my car?!” Dean looked around anxiously, eyes falling on a younger man sitting on the curb where his car used to be.
He stormed over to the young man and pulled him up by his shirt, glaring with intense eyes. “Where the hell is my car?!” Dean growled.
“It’s kinda sweet to see how much you actually care in person,” the other man replied coolly, voice like a low, deep purr.
Dean was taken aback for a moment, trying to process what he’d just said. He released his shirt and stared. “Excuse me? Who are you?” he asked, shooting a look over to Sam. His brother only shrugged, looking equally as confused.
The man adjusted his shirt and ran a hand through his thick, dark colored hair. “I… hm.” There was a pause before he shrugged. “I don’t know. You’ve always just called me baby.”
Baby. Who the hell did he.. “Oh no fucking way,” Dean breathed out after finally putting the pieces together. “No way in hell.” He took a step back, rubbing his eyes to make sure that this wasn’t just a goddamn dream.
Sam was gaping slightly and caught the guy’s eye. “You’re… the Impala,” he said, not so much a question as it was a statement. “How does that happen?”
“Someone named Gabriel. One second I was a car, the next..” He gestured to his body, and stuck out his bottom lip slightly. “He said that you guys would have fun with this. Me. Or something like that.” A grin, almost a smirk, played at his lips as he eyes the two brothers.
Dean was speechless, and that never happened. After one more moment of looking at the man, he turned to face Sam. “Alright. Okay, just… go take care of the bones. I’ll stay here and babysit..” What the hell would he call him? “So do you have a name?”
The younger man shrugged. “You’ve only ever called me ‘baby’.” He was humming a song, like he couldn’t quite get it out of his head. This whole “being a human” thing wasn’t too bad at all. And seeing Sam and Dean for the first time… it was nothing short of amazing.
“Dude, are you humming Led Zeppelin?” he asked, unable to keep back a grin. The guy nodded, watching Sam walk off and tilting his head to the side slightly. God, that Winchester kid has a nice—
“Hey. Eyes up here,” Dean interrupted, snapping his fingers in front of the younger man. “Listen, until we figure this all out, you’re staying here with us. So come on baby, looks like we’re walking to the motel room.”
The other man nodded and followed behind Dean as they walked down the sidewalk. “Sounds good to me,” he responded, grinning devilishly, now humming a Metallica song.
Dean was so glad that no one else could see him blush.
Once again, for anyone that’s just getting here, it’s Torrid Tuesday!
